Cybersecurity Checklists Coming to V365!

June 5, 2018

An industry first, the checklists are designed to engender cybersecurity into the psyche of mariners, DPA’s, TPO’s, Inspectors, as well as shoreside personnel. They offer a concise but simple way for mariners to undergo cyber training, record those events, memorialize lessons learned, perform cyber drills, and improve the physical and digital security of the vessel. It also serves as a means to report cyber incidents or attempted attacks to authorities and other interested parties.

At the recent IMX show in St Louis, MarineCFO CTO Dean Shoultz chaired a session on cybersecurity. Additionally, Dean sits on the AWO cybersecurity panel. “At MarineCFO our mission is to provide technology leadership and digital transformation solutions to the maritime industry, enabling our customers to operate more safely, securely, and profitably.”, said Shoultz. “We have built these checklists around the principles described in NIST 800-171 Cybersecurity Framework. This framework simplifies the technical aspects of cybersecurity and expresses it in terms easily understood by mariners, and specific to the day-to-day operations of a marine transportation company.”
